About Me

I learned to ride a bike in my mid 20’s in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.  My last ride in San Francisco was a ride on a borrowed mountain bike, pedaling through the Presidio, and wobbling along the side of the road next to a row of parked cars.  Inevitably, I managed to hit a side view mirror of a parked car with the end of my handlebar while wobbling through.  Woops… I heard my friends behind me laughing their heads off as I struggled to keep balance and not fall.  Almost 10 years later, here I am, trying to ride again.  This time, I am in sunny Southern California.  For fitness, I bought a mountain bike and tried riding through some fire trails.  This was okay…  As soon as I tried to ride a very basic single track, I started falling… over and over and over again, including an episode of being hurled over my handlebars while going down a hill.  I’ve given up the mountain bike for now, and have taken up road biking.  It’s a whole new world! I love it - NO MORE FALLING!  I’m still struggling to figure out the basic techniques of road biking.  In the meantime, I’m trying to ride as much as I can to eventually build up to riding a century in 2008.  Will it be possible?
